Welcome to the Pioneer Valley
If you are a visitor to the Pioneer Valley, we hope you will take time to enjoy its many attractions. Our famous scenery is enhanced by the pageant of changing seasons, climaxed by the spectacle of autumn color. Marvelous views are available from the peaks of the Holyoke Range and from Mt. Sugarloaf in South Deerfield. The five colleges of Hampshire County provide many cultural events and exhibits. Historic Old Deerfield displays colonial architecture and artifacts. Agriculture fairs bear witness to the rural life that still dominates the area.
Recreational facilities abound and dinosaur tracks may be seen in ancient river beds. Where you are interested in the scene, historic, cultural, or recreational, you will surely find much to your liking in our beautiful valley.

DIRECTIONS TO ATKINS
Mass Pike (90) to Atkins (coming from the East):Take Exit #8 at Palmer. Coming off exit, take a left onto Rte 32. Go to 2nd set of lights and take a left onto High St. (there will be a cemetary on your left as you go onto this road). Follow main road (actually changes names a few times - High to Church to Pleasant to Thorndike - but you basically stay on same road) about 2 miles till road ends when it intersects with Rte 181. Take a right onto to Rte 181 and follow Rte 181 about 3 miles and you’ll come to town of Belchertown. Rte 181 ends at the first set of lights, but you will go straight through the lights (actually on Rte 202 North) up to the next set of lights where it intersects with Rte 9. Take a left onto to Rte 9West. Travel on Rte 9 a little less than 1/2 mile, and you’ll see a blue Tourist Sign on right with “Atkins Farms” on it, directing you to take a left onto Bay Road. You then follow Bay Road 6 miles until it intersects with Rte. 116. You will see Atkins across the intersection.

Signs include one for Atkins,( also Hampshire College, Eric Carle Museum, etc.) and the sign will direct you to go left onto Bay Road right after bridge (Rte 47 goes straight here but you need to turn left). Follow Bay Road approximately 2 1/2 to 3 miles until it intersects with Rte 116. You’ll see Atkins as you come into the intersection.
Rte 91- Coming from the NorthTake exit # 20. Coming off the exit, you’ll want to get over to the left lane at the first set of lights.
